Summary :

We herein present a case of methanol poisoning, promptly treated in an emergency setting. In this report, we have discussed its physiopathology, clinical presentation, and diagnostic methods, in addition to the therapeutic options currently available to manage methanol intoxication. What is already known about the topic? Methanol poisoning is a rare but potentially serious problem, with neurological damage as the only long-term sequelae. Healing without sequelae is only observed in benign intoxications and in case of early therapeutic intervention. What does this article bring up for us? This article concisely reviews the physiopathology, as well as the clinical and diagnostic approaches of the pathology. In addition, it provides a brief review on the latest recommendations on the therapeutic management of methanol poisoning. Key Words Methanol, metabolic acidosis, ethanol, fomepizole
